It’s Just Stuff — Shawn Blanc

We live in a world so lost in what it consumes that many people find themselves continually trying to define who they are by the stuff they own. Something so deftly summed up by Shawn in his post:

Instead, look at how he (or she) treats his family. What is his character like? Look at his relationships and his beliefs and how he spends his time. These things — the metaphysical, the intangible — they are the true extension of the soul.

iA Writer: On Prices and Features

Very interesting article about the way Information Architects settled on the price for iA Writer on the Mac, the thinking behind it and the value they place on the product they have created. In fact its more than just an article about pricing, it’s an article about value. The value you place on your work and how you communicate to the people buying it, be it a service or product is very important, understanding that is the first step in getting your valuation right.

Fragmented Attention

The complaint comes from the fact that a lot of us are sick of the friend or acquaintance who gives us less than their full attention. The complaint also comes because we’re starting to get tired of being that person ourselves. Especially when we see the cost is has on our relationships with those we care for the most.

Focus isn’t just about doing things. It’s about making sure it’s on the people it should be.
